Verified against Japan MOJ/ISA official materials: in April 2016 Japan simplified the paper disembarkation card (ED card) and abolished the departure card, but the paper card is still handed out on flights and remains valid today; Visit Japan Web is the officially promoted digital alternative — either is accepted.
